Power Management & Charging Issues

Monitor low-energy alerts, deep discharge behaviors, and differences in external voltage distribution setups.

tip

Background on power modes, expected runtimes, and fleet charging strategies is available in the Battery Management guide.

1. Interpreting Low Battery Chimes

  • The 5-Times Beep: If the lock emits a distinct 5-times chime sequence whenever it is successfully unlocked, the internal battery cell has dropped below its safe operating threshold. The lock must be scheduled for a recharge immediately.
  • Depleted State Behavior: If the internal power cell drains completely, the system freezes in its last physical state (locked or unlocked). Automated cellular links, Bluetooth advertisement, tracking, and motor actions are completely disabled.

2. Recovering from Deep Discharge

If a device is completely unresponsive and dead in the field:

  1. Connect an external power bank directly to the lock's USB-C charging port underneath the protective rubber flap.
  2. The device will draw immediate power from the USB rail and wake up its radio interfaces instantly, allowing an emergency open command to be executed.
  3. Leave the backup power pack attached to the lock or retrieve it to a maintenance station for a full recharge.

3. External Power Routing Behaviors (E-Bike Models)

For premium variants connected directly to internal e-bike power systems (e.g., variants like C2-03-S3b,C2-04-S2b, DBF or DEF):

  • LED Extinguishing Rule: Unlike standard standalone USB models where the red LED stays continuously lit during charging, locks drawing power from external vehicle lines will turn their charging indicator LED off after just a few seconds. This is a normal design choice and does not indicate a charging failure.
  • Safe Charging Temperatures: Always ensure the environment is within the safe boundaries of 0°C to +30°C before trying to charge the internal cells. Charging outside these temperatures may trigger internal protective cut-offs.
  • Correct voltage level: Make sure that the lock is connected with the correct wiring and that the voltage levels are not being exceeded. If the voltage is too low charging won't start. If the voltage level is too high the lock can get damaged and charging is no longer possible.
